It debuts at $1400 less than the company's standout EOS 5D Mark III.Īs the full frame DSLR market grows ever-more crowded though - Canon, Nikon and Sony each offer at least two full frame models - the appeal of the 6D may well rest on things like handling and feature set. And while the barrier to entry has dropped considerably since then, for many potential buyers, the most-talked about feature of the EOS 6D may well be its price. It was only a decade ago that full frame DSLR performance was limited to those with pockets deep enough to spend $7999 on the 11MP Canon EOS 1Ds. And just like that, a new market segment was born: the mid-range full frame DSLR. I had to file material off the rear end of one of my lenses to get it to work.Īnd yes it would be easier to use a mirrorless camera than file the lens for use on EOS.Less than a week after arch-rival Nikon grabbed headlines with the D600, Canon responded with an announcement of its own price-conscious full frame DSLR, the EOS 6D. If your lens extends to 9mm, you'll have problems for sure. if you have 8.5mm or less from the face on the back of the lens that seats against the adapter (or old film camera) to the max extension of the lens rearward, your lens shouldn't interfere with the mirror. If your lens does not extend past the adapter, the mirror will clear easily. The pin doesn't get in the way, since it does not extend beyond the adapter. I have two M42 takumars I've used on the 5DMkII, 1DsMkII, and 1DMkIV with the cheapest adapter I could find. I have seen this with most M42 adapters, but so far i am not clear what it actually means? Can i use this for my (slight backwards extending takumar) or am i better off mounting these on my nex? M42-EOS flange adapter for the most m42 lens, apart from pentax takumar. On the 135mm there is nothing (except the pin) that goes beyond the lens mount, but on the 55mm there seem to be 2 metal extensions that goes beyond the mount (towards teh camera so to speak) and focus at infinity does push the inner lens to the same distance as these 2 metal extensions So its actually the pin that makes some of the M42 lenses incompatible with EF? I have a Accura Auto 135mm f/2.8 and a SMC takumar 55 f/2, both these have a pin on the mount (3-4mm long i would saw) I bought three cheap eBay adapters from three sources, in three slightly different designs, and all work fine (they didn't go to waste, I leave them on the lens and cover the adapter bayonet with an extra Canon lens back cap). Mamiya-Sekor SX (not "plain" M-S, just SX ones), some Pentax Takumar lenses have annoying levers or pins requiring trimming. There are a few M42 lenses that may have levers or pins that can get in the way of functioning on a 6D with a standard adapter. It is hard to find one without the flange - the ones without the flange are best used on M42 lenses with preset aperture rings (two rings next to each other, one sets the aperture and has clicks, one opens and closes the aperture to the selected value). Note that you should get the kind with the extra flange that depresses the little aperture pin permanently.
